Thoughts on Durant, Stephen A, and the Warriors

I am really tired of Stephen A Smith. He is paid by ESPN to shuck and jive and criticize successful black athletes and figures. Kevin Durant doesn't owe him or any of us an explanation on why he went to the Golden State Warriors. He was a FREE agent, which meant he was FREE to sign anywhere. Durant wants to win, and he went to the best place possible for him to win. He gave that franchise 9 long years (8 in OKC). I love the move, though to a degree, I feel a bit mixed about playing for a team that just beat you...but this is a new day and age...players can choose their fate and where and how to put themselves in the best place to win and maximize their brand. Like when Ron Artest went to the Los Angeles Lakers after he was on the Houston Rockets, who lost to the Lakers in 7, he saw that the Rockets were going in a certain direction, and he saw that he could help the Lakers beat their ultimate rival, Boston Celtics. He even recognized this when the Celtics beat the Lakers in 08, and Artest, then a member of the Sacramento Kings, told Kobe Bryant in the showers that he could help them. Durant is a perfect fit for their team and system. That sounds like an understatement, since he is universally recognized as one of the 3 best players in the NBA. But he really fits the Warriors' system. At times, Durant can play the 5, which is an absolute nightmare for the opposing big man. He and Steph Curry will alternate between 1 and 1A, and unlike Russell Westbrook, Curry doesn't jack up a lot of shots and rarely disrupts the offensive flow (accept for some occasional hot passes). And then Draymond Green is the point forward, who will facilitate generate a lot of easy points for Durant. Durant or either one of the Splash Brothers will be open when doubled. They only had to give up Barnes and Bogut to get Durant...they still have Iguodala and Livingston, and they will have to re-sign Speights, Barbosa, and maybe Varejao. If they stay healthy, add another rim protector/dirty work guy, fill in the cracks here and there, they will be extremely hard to beat.
